The moon reached her highest peak in the sky, signaling the beginning of the first hour of all Hallows Eve.
Alares had been sitting at the border, watching, waiting. Now the time had come.
All around her the dark trees and eerie surroundings of the Nightmare Grotto started to dissaperate into the normal trees of Rowan Park. She crouched behind a tree, slightly started by this transformation though she had expected it- the real world was so drastically different. Finaly the change was complete, she stood, an alien in this world. Her dark and piercing eyes scanned the area, noticing other people standing around, ones she didn't recognize- dreamers. After a glancing over a few people her gaze locked on one dreamer in particular. This one, she did know.
A 15 year old girl walked down the small path through the park, hugging her loose-fit hoodie tighter around her in the chilly air of the night. She checked her watch, 12:01 on October 30th, though technically it was now the 31st. The girl, Paisley, looked around, having an odd feeling that she was being watched. The blackness of night was too much for her eyes to see far, but she unknowingly stared durectly at the spot where Alares crouched. Though all she saw was a slight outline of a shaddow.
The dark figure paused as the girls eyes met hers, can she see me? she thought, No. She's just a mere human. she finished, with a thought of disgust at the word human.
Even in knowing that she didn't actualy see her she wanted to be careful. It wasn't time for her dreamer to see her- not yet.
Paisley turned and continued walking when a slight and eerie fog seemed to spread it's way across the ground in the park.
Little did she know, or anybody else for that matter, it was only an illusion, though everything about it seemed so real. She brushed the paranoid thoughts away It's just my mind being silly. There's nobody there. How could something that large have wings anyway? she thought as her feet passed swiftly over the ground making crunching noises as they stepped on the dry brown leaves that coated the pathway.
