Abby was working at the cafe' again, earning some extra money she could use to buy her own clothes. She'd managed to get enough money so far to buy herself a few new outfits, and even her own soccer ball. Now she was hoping to get enough to buy, perhaps, a guitar. She loved playing, although she had never owned one of her own. She was a natural with enough raw talent to get really good, although only playing the instrument. She had seen how some people could sing along, and become practically one person bands, but she couldn't sing for her life. She couldn't carry a tune in a bucket.
She guessed she had been blessed in other ways though, with great artistic skills, and the ability to play a few instruments by ear, although somehow the sounds always got messed up on the way from her brain to her mouth, and what came out barely resembled the song at all. But that had nothing to do with here and now, so she shook herself from her thoughts and finished ringing through someone's order, taking their money and handing them a cafe' latte' in return. Just a few more minutes and it would be break time. She smiled at the thought, and looked out at the small coffe shop, a place she loved to both work at and hang out in.
It was so cozy, warm air coming from a cute fireplace in one corner, and couches and armchairs scattered around in small seating arrangements with beautiful glass tables positioned in the middle. This was a great place to come to hang out, or to study, or to talk with friends. A few couples made this their regular place as well, loving to sit on the loveseat by the fireplace. This place had quite a few regulars, and Abby could happily call herself one of them.

Angelline smiled as she walked down one of the numerous streets on Senora Avenue. Looking around at the various shops she kept her eyes peeled for the little coffee shop her brother had gotten a job at. She chuckled as she remembered how ecstatic her brother had been when he got the job. Damien had stormed into her room, picked her off her bed and started swinging her around like a rag doll saying 'I got the job, I got the job' over and over.
She adjusted her shades as they started to slip. Recently she had found out that it unnerved some people when she looked at them with her odd gold eyes, so she had bought a few pairs of sunglasses so people wouldn't feel so uncomfortable around her. Soon enough Angelline found the small coffee shop. It was a small cafe with a homy air and she sighed in relief. Thank god it's not one of those gaudy cafe's. she thought. Pushing open the glass door to the shop she walked in and stopped to take in everything.
Cozy with a cute fireplace in one corner and numerous couches and armchairs. Angelline let another smile show as she took off her jacket and draped it over her arm. It was nice and warm in the cafe and she had no need for the thick jacket. Looking over to the counter she tried spotting her brother, but to no avail. Not letting that bother her much she walked over to the girl working there currently and offered a friendly smile. "Um excuse me. Do you know if there's an employee by the name of Damien Devorez working today?" she asked hoping the girl was friendly.

Abby glanced at the clock and smiled when she noticed it was her break time now, and she was about to walk away from the counter when she heard someone speak to her. Looking up, she smiled lightly and nodded her head. Yeah, he worked here. But he had left on his break already. Each break was about fifteen minutes, so he wouldn't be gone for too long.
"Yeah, he's working here. Are you Angel?"
She seemed to fit the description, and considering he talked about her so much she almost felt like she knew her already.
"He just left on his break, sorry. He'll be back in about fifteen minutes, if you'd like to wait for him?'

Angelline sighed as the girl told her Damien was on break. Curious as to how the girl knew her name she was about to ask when her answer was given. "Yes, I'm Angel, but my real name is Angelline. My friends call me Angel or Angie. You can call me that if you want," she said smiling.
"And I think I'll wait for him thank you. What is your name if I may ask?" she asked taking off her shades. If her brother talked about her as much as this girl said then the employees would already know about her eyes so why bother hiding them.

Abby smiled back. Naturally Damien had told them her real name, but he just called her Angel most of the time so Abby had used that name as well. Then she asked what her name was, and she replied,
"I'm Abby."
Then she took her visor off (a visor or baseball cap being part of their uniform) and closed the till she was at, walking out from behind the counter and motioning towards a group of chairs.
"Feel like sitting down?"
She was on break after all, and seeing as how she was in the middle of a conversation it would be rude for her to just wander off down the street like she did usually. She either wandered aimlessly around for fifteen minutes, or sat by the fire and watched the flames. It was actually more interesting than it sounded. She noticed her remove her sunglasses, and Abby smiled when she noticed that her eyes were just as.. unique as her brother had described.

"It's nice to meet you Abby, and I'd love to sit down," Angelline said watching as the girl took off her visor and walked out from behind the counter. Realizing that the girl was taking a break she blushed feeling a bit insensitive. "Oh but if you wanted to go home you can go. I don't want to keep you waiting just so that I won't be alone," she said kicking herself mentally at her insensitivity.
Angelline smiled when the girl didn't comment on her eyes and let out a sigh of relief inwardly. She's a nice girl. I hope we can become friends.
Walking over to the mentioned seats she stood in front of one waiting for the girl's reply. She didn't want to seem rude, not to one of Damien's co-workers, and to a possible friend.

If she wanted to go.. home? Well.. no, actually, she didn't. She laughed lightly, shaking her head. The town was small, and there was a high possibility she would be able to make it to the orphanage and back within her break, but why in the world would she want to go there for ten minutes? Tog et tackled by all the younger children? Picked on by the older ones? Ignored by the possible adopters? No thanks. She was through with that. But she just smiled and walked over to the seats, sitting on one and replying,
"Don't worry about it, I probably wouldn't have time to go... home."
She never really called the orphanage her 'home'. Well, when she was talking to other people she did, but that was only because, well, people tended to treat her... differently when they found out she had no family. They were always so fakely happy and crap, it drove her nuts. But then there was always the problem of her friends asking why she never invited them over, or gave them her phone number...
"So Angle, what's up in your life?"

Sighing in relief Angelline took a seat as well and watched Abby. She had wondered why Abby had laughed and thought that maybe she was a little slow today on things, but she shrugged it off. It was best not to look to deeply into things like that. It only brought misconceptions and confusion.
"Oh, okay." she said when Abby told her she probably wouldn't go home. Angelline noticed the hesitation in her speech, but bit her tongue so as not to ask why. She offered a friendly smile to the girl and reclined farther back in the chair before answering her question.
"Nothing much. A new town means a lot of exploring and making new friends. The only remotely exciting things were the new mares and stallions and Damien getting a job." Thinking about her situation right now though she blushed and mumbled her next sentence. "Although I did meet this one guy...Ace...he's my boyfriend you could say." Their relationship ran much deeper than simple boyfriend and girlfriend, but if she talked more about it she might pass out from heat stroke, her blush was reaching new heights.
"So what's up in your life Abby? Anything interesting in town?"

Ah, another new person. It seemed like the town was filled with them nowadays. She leaned back on the chair, looking up at the beige ceiling, watching the shadows made from the fireplace dance. When she heard about a boy, Ace, she looked back at Angel, lips pursed thoughtfully. Ace, Ace... She had met him, in the park. He seemed... nice enough. So this must be who his girlfriend was. Well good for them.
"I met Ace at the park once. He mentioned he had a girlfriend."
Thinking out loud.
"Nothing so interesting in my life. Just working a lot lately to earn enough money for an apartment. And maybe a guitar."
When she realized what she had said, and the implications of it, she bit her lip lightly to keep herself from saying anything else. Most people were smart enough to figure out that if she was saving for an apartment, she didn't have her own house yet, and seeing as how there was no homeless people in the town, the only place she could live would be the orphanage, and she had been trying to keep that little info tidbit from people. But Angel seemed nice enough.

Angelline almost fell of her chair in shock as Abby mentioned she had seen Ace in the park. Be that as it may she couldn't stop the widening of her eyes or the slackening of her jaw. To say she was merely shocked would be a vast understatment. Regaining her composure with a bit of trouble she laughed, her way of venting. "Well that's interesting. I'm sure he told you I was a villain," she joked. Really she hoped he hadn't said anything bad. She knew he wouldn't but then again with his teasings she wasn't always so sure.
Angelline noticed the implications in Abby's words as she said she was working a lot to earn enough money for an apartment and maybe a guitar. She wanted to comfort the girl, but she clenched her fists at her sides. She had an inkling of how this girl might feel if she did anything of the sort. Once she had been in a postion where people had pitied her, but it had made her sick. She didn't want their pity, she had wanted their understanding and compassion. She might want the same thing I did.
"That sounds like hard work. Do you have any apartments in mind? I'm sure there's a ton that you would like right Abby?" she asked breezing through the conversation. "When you get the apartment make sure to invite me to the homecoming party okay?" she said with a bright smile on her face.
Please don't think that I don't care. I just don't want to put you in the spotlight.

A villain? Actually, he hadn't said anything about her. He'd just said he had a girlfriend, and then they went on with their conversation. She had actually gotten a bit annoyed that he had felt the need to make that information clear to her, like she was going to hit on him or something. Yeah, she had gotten a little annoyed, and thinking about it now was just annoying her again.
"Actually, he didn't really say anything about you. He just told me he had a girlfriend."
She was infinitely glad that Angel didn't make a huge deal about the getting an apartment thing, and smiled lightly before she answered her question.
"Actually, there is this one. It's in a building that allows pets, and it has two bedrooms, a bathroom, a nice kitchen, and a living room. It's a slight bit more on the pricey side, but I've been saving for a while so I'll probably have enough money soon. The good thing is it's not one of those renting ones, so the only money I have to pay would be heat, power and water every month."
She realized that may have been a bit long-winded, but she had been planning for this for so long it was almost creepy. She'd been eleven when she first started thinking of getting her own place.
"I don't think I'll have a homecoming party, but I'll invite you over anyway if you want."
She wasn't having a party for obvious reasons, most of which were stated earlier. If she invited people over telling them she had just bought her own place, they would make the connection and realize she had no family and lived in the orphanage and blah blah blah, it wouldn't be fun. She was teased enough without people knowing she was an orphan.

Nodding her head Angelline felt herself relax more in Abby's presence. She was a very nice straight-forward sort of person. She wasn't like those girls who talked on and on about meaningless things that bored Angelline to tears. From what she knew so far Abby was a strong independant person who was in charge of her own life and didn't need anyone telling her what to do, and for that Angelline respected her already.
Sensing her irritation at the previous subject she nodded and focused on her description of the apartment. "It sounds like a comfortable apartment. Do you think you'll buy a pet since they're allowed? Or are you just going to go straight for the guitar?" Angelline didn't mind at all at the long description she was entertained by it. If she wanted an apartment she'd probably look for one similar to the kind Abby was describing.
"And I'll keep you to that," she joked as Abby said she'd invite her over. She was about to ask her why there wouldn't be a home coming party when she realized the full situation. Not letting that bother her she shook it off and waited for Abby's answers.
