September stood on the platform just outside the Tower of Tranquility, waitng on the Train of Thought to pull up. She had decided to take a trip to see how things were going around the Land of Milk and Cookies, make sure nothing bad had slipped past the border. She could fly of course, but sometimes she focused more on flying then on watching. That was part of the reason she had decided to take the train. The other reason was that her wings just plain tired. They ached every time she tried to lift herself, reluctant to even make her fly a few feet. So she had resorted to the train to give her wings a bit of a break.
There September stood, waiting for the train. Her long black hair was loose as usual and her bare feet tapped the platform's floor with some impatience. The train should have been here by now. What was keeping it? Swiftly, she turned her back to the tracks, causing the hem of her white robe to swirl around her ankles. She had half a mind to take flight now just to see what was causing the hold up, but her white wings drooped in protest just at the thought. September sighed softly and turned back around to face the tracks, to continue her wait on the train.

Glandforth walked up to the station, and looked around. Thankfully, the train hadn’t arrived yet, which meant that it was going to, and hopefully, soon. Looking around, he noticed a woman, one that he had seen before, but where? He shrugged it off, and went to take a seat on a wooden bench near where he was standing. He might as well take a seat, and not bore himself by standing up. He could have gotten to his destination lightning fast, but decided he might as well take the train, make some friends, you know, become a well known Dreamer. Waiting for quite a bit, he soon became impatient and stood up. He walked over towards the woman he had spotted earlier.
“When is the train going to come, miss?” Glandforth asked, nice as possible. He always had to make good first impressions, if it was in the real world, or the dream world, it didn’t matter. ‘First impressions are the best impressions you can make on a stranger‘, mamma always said.

September turned her head when she heard footsteps coming her way. She saw a guy walking towards her. Had he always been there? She hadn't noticed him before then, though in her impatient mood it was possible she had missed him. She gave him a small bright smile while he came closer. The smile faded, however, when she heard his question. "It should already be here," she said, turnning away to look down the train tracks. "It's probably just been held up by dream sheep or something. At least, I hope that's all."
She turned back to the boy, attempting at a smile again. "My name's September." She held out her hand for the boy to shake. "I'm the leader of the Sandmen and obviouusly an angel." She gave the boy a small smirk, waving her wings feebly. She gave him a smmall smile.

He noticed that she had heard his footsteps, and turned her head, as he got closer to her. Her smile apparently disappeared after he asked her that question. I know I didn’t say anything wrong that time,Glandforth thought to himself. Shrugging it off, he listened to her answer. “Should be here? You hope? Something must be wrong,” Glandforth rambled.
“September. Wow, leader of the Sandmen!, I'm hoping to become a sandman myself one day, but I'm just too busy right now,” Glandforth said, wide eyed. He was talking to the leader of the sandmen, one that he wanted to become. “It’s an honor to meet you,” Glandforth said, putting emphasis on “honor”. She had faintly moved her wings, or it just looked like that. Come to think of it, he didn’t even know she had wings.

September gave the man another small smile when he started to ramble on about how something must be wrong with the train. "I'm pretty sure it's nothing major. Probably just some dream sheep wandered on to the tracks," she said, continuing to smile faintly. She turned her head away to look down the tracks where a small puff of steam could be seen in the distance. "See, here it comes now."
She turned back to the guy, standing next to her. He hadn't told her his name, but instead had rambled off about how it was an honor to meet her. She was very tempted to roll her eyes at this comment. So many people said that, but she never understood exactly why. Sure, she did her best to keep nightmares at bay, but that really wasn't that honorable...at least not to her. She was an angel, after all, and all angels detested figghting. They much more preferred peace. "Well, it's difficult work to be a Sandmen. You have to value the dreams of others before your own." She sighed softly. "That's why so many Dreamers find it hard to be one. They'll fight alongside us, but when it comes to scarficing their dreams, they run." She turned away again, so he couldn't see the look of disappointment on her face. Now the train could be easily seen, making its way towards them.

Naomi knew well enough what times the train was supposed to come around at, and so had been hoping for a later one by walking very slowly to the station, and taking a few detours through the Land of Milk and Cookies. Her dark hair was held back, pullled through the hole in the middle of one of her shuriken, and her dress was dark as well. At first glance it looked as though she was not supposed to be here, in this bright land of happiness and all that crap, but she was on neither side, and was so able to wander freely through the lands. She had yet to chose a side of this war whom she would fight for. She admired the Sandmen, who earned their warriors trust from kindness and whatnot, but she also respected The Nothing, who commanded his warriors using fear and power.
As she neared the station she noticed that the train had yet to pull up, and decided that instead of catching a later one, to collect her thoughts and try to make a decision regarding the matter or war and where her loyalties lay. She noticed two beings already at the station, probably hoping to catch this train as well, and possibly angry or annoyed that it had come so late. It seemed she would have some company on her ride. Hopefully they wouldn't be too noisy.

Glandforth turned his head at her comment, and noticed that the train was coming just as she said. The train didn’t seem very important to him now, since he was talking to the leader of the Sandmen. He knew his previous comments about how he was honored to meet her, had probably made it’s way to her ears countless times, and she had probably lost all interest in the people who said it. He didn’t care, not until he heard her next comment.
"Well, it's difficult work to be a Sandmen. You have to value the dreams of others before your own." Sighing softly, she started again. "That's why so many Dreamers find it hard to be one. They'll fight alongside us, but when it comes to scarficing their dreams, they run." She then turned her head, so Glandforth couldn’t see her face.
Bowing his head, he spoke, “That’s exactly why I want to become a Sandman. I do value the dreams of others before mine. To tell you the truth, I don’t value mine at all. Who knows what little kid’s dreamer is running around out there now, in fear of the Nothing and his pathetic Army? I want to be able to fight for that little kid and his dreamer, just so they can dream in peace, just as everyone wishes,” Pausing slightly, as to let September consume the information, he continued, “ I have no dreams, other than a wish for peace, so I can make no sacrifices. You might think it’s just another Dreamer boasting about himself, but no, this time it’s different, and I know my words weren’t all that emotional, but they were true.” He knew he said it from the bottom of his heart, his words could not be doubted. He knew he had no right speaking to his future leader, hopefully, like that, but he couldn’t stop himself, no way.

September merely listened to the man's comments while watching as the train continued forward. Finally, she turned her head to examine the man next to her. He knew he was a grown man, but to her he seemed like a little boy, unknowing and noble without knowing what it meant to be. Slowly, she raised her dark eyes to meet his own. "A dream for peace is still a dream," she spoke softly, "and countless Dreamers have already given up that one. It's not scraficing your dreams that matters; it's being willing to if you have to. It's a last resort, for without our dreams there is nothing but nightmares."
She turned away just as the train pulled into the station. A conductor hopped out of the gleaming, silver cars, apologizing for the late arrival. "Sorry folks, some dream sheep wandered on to the track. It took us ages to get rid of them." September gave the man an "I told you so" sort of smirk while she climbed onto the train. Suddenly, she paused for a moment, looking over the man's head. Standing on the platform was a neutral one. These Dreamers were usually tricky beings because you didn't know which side they were on. September turned her gaze away from the neutral Dreamer and continued getting on the train.

Glandforth gritted his teeth. She didn’t take him seriously, and he knew that. As she got on the train, all hell broke loose in his mind. “You know what!” He screamed, at the top of his lungs, “I don’t care what you say, I don’t care what anyone says! I will become a Sandman! And I will fight evil as long as I live! My dreams are dead, and it’s all thanks to The Nothing!..” Lowering his tone, he added, “That is why I fight, and that is why I will continue to fight.”
He hoped she heard him, because for this one time, he wanted to be heard. He didn’t care if all eyes were turned on him, he just wanted that…. woman to hear him, to take him seriously. “One other thing, I will kill The Nothing.” He heard several gasps around him as he said that, but he paid them no mind. The only thing on his mind was getting his point across and people taking him seriously for once.

September whirled around, light flaring all around her. "He can't be killed, you idiot. If he could, don't you think he would have by now. I never said you couldn't be a Sandman or even that you lack the potential to become one, but you do not know what it means to be one or what the life of one is like. You just want to be one to fight and kill The Nothing. It's not about fighting. It's about protecting. If you just want to fight, you are no better than he is." She finished talking and turned again without even looking at the man.
She stormed through the train until she found a place to sit. He had no idea what it meant to be a Sandman and his arrogaance that he did know angered her more than she could remember. She took a deep breath, trying to calm down. Finally, realizing she was lit up like a christmas tree, she absorbed the light back into her. She found herself somewhere to sit in the back of the train and sat there scowling.

It seemed it had been too much to hope they would not be noisy, and as the boy burst out, sounding quite insane, she covered her ears and held back a hiss at the sudden noise. She brought her hands from her ears slowly when he shut up, and walked onto the train completely ignoring him. It seemed the other girl was peeved as well, and she smiled lightly to her as she neared. Maybe she could perhaps make a friend.
"Would you mind if I sit here?"
The question was kind, but she didn't wait for an answer, sitting down across from the angel, the leader of the Sandmen, thoughtfully. She thought the boy was being completely immature, and from the way he had seemed so certain that he 'would kill The Nothing', he was obviously mentally unstable.
"I'm Naomi,"
She introduced herself, then continued.
"And you're September, the leader of the Sandmen. Honour to meet you, you're my hero, blah blah blah. Now that we have all that pointless rambling out of the way, we can actually have a meaningful conversation."
She waited for this to cause a reaction of some sort in the other girl, and for the time being simply sat quietly, watching her.

September was only slightly taken aback by the girl's abruptness. She actually found Naomi's spuck to be quite refreshing, as was evident when she chuckled softly, her annoyance with the man fading now. "Well, it's nice to meet you, and I see that my name and status far precede me." She gave Naomi a small smirk. "Now what would you consider to be a meaningful conversation? Maybe you would like to talk over your potential to become a Sandman?" She barely suppressed a sigh at just the mere thought of going over yet another Dreamer's potential to be a Sandman. "Or maybe you want to know what we're actually doing to protect you from The Nothing?" That was what some Dreamers wanted to know. What were they doing to protect everyone from The Nothing? September sat there quietly, surveying Naomi.

At the part about how her statues must have preceded her, Naomi laughed lightly and shook her head.
"Actually, I just overheard your conversation.
Well she certainly wasn't one to stray from the truth, or beat around the bush, now was she? But then again, the people you dream of are usually exactly like you, or not like you in the least, either because you had strong beliefs, or because you wanted to be free from your reality, and perhaps live a little differently for a while. Abby certainly was doing that through Naomi.
But thinking about that would be considered rude and, (although she didn't much care about being rude or not) she was in the middle of a conversation with September. If not for the simple 'joy' of conversation, she might as well learn something about the Sandmen. Then she could perhaps learn some about the other side, and maybe make a decision. Or not. She sort of enjoyed being Neutral.
Talk over her potential to become a Sandman? No thanks. She didn't much feel like 'fighting the forces of evil' and giving up her own dreams for the sake of others and happiness and whatnot. What they were doing against The Nothing was also of little concern of hers. That was not what she considered a meaningful conversation.
"Actually, I just wanted to get to know you. I don't much care for the whole 'fighting the forces of evil' thing."
As was previously established, she certainly didn't beat around the bush.

September laughed lightly at Naomi's comments. This girl definetly had spunk to talk with such truthfulness, and September didn't see why she couldn't be honest as well. "Well, to be frank, I don't much like fighting myself. I'd much rather be at peace than anything." She gave Naomi a small smile. "Unfortunately, I also can't stand idly by while other people are being hurt." She shrugged her shoulders. To most Dreamers this seemed like a complicated thing, but it wasn't to her. It was as simple as not wanting others to be hurt regradless of what you yourself wanted to do.
September looked at Naomi for a moment, considering her. Neutral beings were tricky. Sure, they weren't on any given side now, but later on they could chose to be on the side opposing you. You didn't want to give them any information they could use against you. Pushing this thought aside, September cleared her throat. "And what exactly do you want to know about me?"

Naomi nodded understandingly when September explained how she liked peace, but didn't want to do nothing while people were getting hurt. She could agree, but not about the while others were getting hurt thing. She was just restless, and found that, most of the time, she needed to be doing something to keep herself occupied. She wasn't the kind of person who just stood around doing nothing for hours at a time. She needed to be doing something, running around, chasing butterflies, or killing things. It didn't matter to her as long as she wasn't just sitting around.
What exactly did she want to know about September? Hmm, good question. She didn't honestly know. But having a conversation was better than doing nothing, right? And this was as good a topic as anything. So she might as well try and be social, right?
"You know, I really don't know. Stuff like what's your favorite colour, what's your favorite hobby. You know, things like that. Don't worry, I don't want to learn all your 'Sandman-y secrets'."
Now that she thought about it, she had just been hoping that by the time she got off this train, she'd have an ally, or more importantly, a friend.
